TWO POSTS IN ONE DAY!

This is a cargo pocket I added to a pair of my friend Mark's jeans.. He said that his phone doesn't fit very well in the pockets that are given to him by most jeans, but that he has some shorts with cargo pockets that work very well for the phone. Unfortunately, cargo pants themselves don't really fit him right, so he needed the pocket to be added on.

On the top opening of the pocket I covered the denim with some leftover fabric from his pillowcases, simply because I don't think my little sewing machine could handle sewing through the five layers of denim that would have been created where the two pockets meet. I added two decorative stripes across the pocket to match those on the original pockets. Before I give these pants back to him, I still want to sew around the edge of the pocket one more time to enclose the raw edges- similar to the double seam around most factory-manufactured pockets.

Rug

I made this rug out of old t-shirts, cutting them up into strips and then tying them together into a sortof t-shirt rope. It's basically crocheted together, but made using the biggest hook I could find and super loose stitches, often doubling them together to keep the rug from bubbling up, to keep it flat and rug-like.

It took me a couple weeks to put together, partly because there's so much work in cutting up all those t-shirts and tying them together, partly because I didn't have very many t-shirts hanging out around my apartment and had to go home to retrieve a lot of them, and partly because I have been swamped with homework recently. All in all though, it's pretty big, and very comfortable to the feet.

Pajama Ghostie

A while back, I threatened my friend Emmy to make a pajama pillow out of her stuffed owl. It never happened, but I think my pajama ghostie is just as cute! He's a little bit lopsided because I didn't spend too much time working on the pattern, I also made the slits for the button holes too wide (didn't cut them all the way out, but they still look wide). However, it was just a quick project, my boyfriend hides my pajamas all the time, so now I have a place to keep them!

Pillow Pile

My friend Mark commissioned me to sew about 13 pillowcases for him for his pillow pile. I actually finished the project about a week ago, but today finally managed to make it up to his apartment to see how they all looked in real life. My own roommate and I agreed that seeing some of the fabrics together as just pillowcases we were a little worried about how they would all work together as a whole, but they've ended up looking very nice and infusing some color into his living room, which was before a little less colorful.

I made my own pattern for these, based roughly off of a pillowcase that I have which was what I wanted to sew. The pillowcases are actually made of three pieces, one large one for the 'front' of the case, and two smaller ones for the 'back'. The 'back' ones overlap in the middle of the 'back' to keep the pillow inside from falling out. The edges are rounded. It's a pretty simple design, but did take a little more work than a standard pillowcase (but I was being commissioned, so I wanted to make it worth both of our whiles).

Sold the pillowcases for the cost of fabric, and a minor labor cost per piece (1.50).

Post One, An Intro

Hi! This is a blog about the things that I make and create.

Current projects are involving a lot of crocheting (I learned how in middle school, and am now revisiting), as well as endeavors into photography.

Posts will be about the things I have made, and will include some notes on the process through which they were made. If an item is for sale, a note will be made of that as well- including the price.
